The
Press Calendar
Freehand,
Photoshop
The
Press is the South Island's most popular daily newspaper. Every year,
The Press advertising department produces a calendar, which is distributed
to advertisers and staff, and also sold to the public for the princely
sum of $10.
For
the 2004 calendar, The Press decided to outsourced the job to a fresh
pair of eyes and hopefully, a fresher design.
One
of the key objectives of the brief was to retain the functionality
of previous designs. The date type had to be large and there also
needed to be sufficient space for notes to be hand written. In
addition, the photography would be supplied after the concept was approved,
meaning the design had to work virtually with any type of photography.
Not
only did the calendar fulfil the brief in terms of functionality,
but the design and photography
integrated well with the heavy information content. |
